Hello my lovely users,
Those of you who still visit YE fairly regularly might have noticed the most recent blog post by Gwyneth. I won't rehash everything, but rather simply provide a link to it here. As you all may know, I'm not a fan of censorship, but what the user in question here has done goes a bit beyond the usual criticism and occasional hostility we receive as a community. Understandably, the situation has caused a lot of users feel that their privacy at YE has been threatened, and the haven-like atmosphere compromised. I do not want this to happen here on Uzilu.
We have preventative measures in place. As you know, our forums here are private and are thus not accessible to those without a membership. I've contacted Gwyn to request the username(s) that this girl has used on YE so that I may remove any that may be registered here, and registration for the time being will be all but halted: those wishing to register will need to either pen an e-mail to my address by replying to the original registration e-mail that you received, or by referral- have a current member contact me via e-mail or PM asking to be activated. I might need help spreading the word on this one, as I expect we will see a small influx of new users with the temporary closing of YE.
The forums will remain available to new members free-of-charge, though in celebration of the 2nd anniversary of the forums' creation, you may see a new donation button pop up on or around August 30th, the 2nd anniversary itself. Details about that will be contained in a separate, later post.
I'd like to thank our lovely moderator heather1982 for bringing this situation to my attention and for helping me figure out what steps to take next.
Thank you all!
Cat
