Statement of Intent & Purpose

The Uzilu website is a place of refuge for both men and women of at least 13 years of age (per the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) struggling with self-love issues of any kind. The Uzilu website places particular emphasis on reconciling self-value in the face of criticism and unconditional body-positivity in the face of grave societal pressures. In other words, Uzilu is anti-thinxiety and opposed to the idea that there is one and only one beauty ideal.

Disclaimer: The Uzilu website is NOT a place to seek medical help or advice, and should not be used in place of a trained therapist or counselor. All posts by users should be taken as general information and cannot substitute for diagnoses or professional help. The Uzilu administrators, moderators, and users cannot be held responsible if damages should be incurred from misuse of these forums.

A note on suicidal intent: This forum cannot help those who are in immediate danger of harming themselves or someone else. If feel that you are currently at risk, please contact a qualified professional, hospital, police force, or someone who can help you. If you have no where else to go, 1-800 SUICIDE is a good hotline to call. Rules and Regulations for All Registered Users
The rules and regulations stated here should form a blueprint for your use of these forums, and serve the overall purposes and goals of our presence here. All rules apply to personal messages (PMs) as well. If another member is breaking these rules on PM, then please alert one of the moderators/administrators.

1. All topics, materials, and links that could be perceived as ‘triggering’ in any way (with respect to self-harm, restriction, etc.) should have a “trigger warning” placed ahead of the materials to warn other more susceptible users of their content. This can be either the two words “trigger warning” or the acronym “TW”.
2. There should be no harassment, and no direct insult on any other member. This includes name-calling, rude or snide comments, personal digs, etc.
3. You should not post anything that is sexually explicit, hateful, vulgar, or threatening, nor should you post anything that would mislead other users to their own detriment. This includes blanket statements and false claims (which cannot be backed up with a citation). In other words, do not use anecdotal information as fact, and indicate it as anecdotal when you use it.
4. You should not maintain more than one account on these forums without the permission of an administrator.
5. Similarly, you should not post the same exact thing in more than one place, nor should you post the same thing multiple times.
6. No trolling, spamming, advertising, self-promotion, or solicitation of any kind.

Guidelines
These are not as strict or dire as the rules, but following them is much appreciated!

• There is no need to “bump” your topic, as the forums do not move that quickly.
• Try not to get too off topic within a thread. You can always start a new topic elsewhere.
• Try to place your topics in the best forum. If you end up needing to swap the location of something, just ask a moderator to do so for you.
• Try to keep your language readable (i.e. no heavy chatspeak) and your profanity to a minimum. We all say fuck every once in a while, but no need to use it every other word, unless you’re ranting and it makes you feel better.
• Please don’t share accounts. That just makes things extremely confusing.
• Be considerate and courteous when you are speaking to other members. It’s not nice to correct others’ grammar in a condescending way, or to be condescending in any situation for that matter.
• Be tolerant and understanding. The reason you are here is because you want others to act the same way to you.
• Please use common sense. If you have to think before posting something, ask a moderator. ☺

Rules and Regulations for Moderators
These are rules and regulations for moderators and administrators to adhere to.

1. Use tact when dealing with member conflict and editing situations. Only edit the post if editing is absolutely necessary (e.g. if TW is needed, or if the member is gone and refuses to edit to comply with forum rules), and edit the least that you can.
2. Do not overuse your moderating power. You are still a registered member of this site, and all of the rules and guidelines above still apply to you.
3. If you are experiencing a relapse of any kind, do not sign on to the site. Alert one of the administrators and take as much time as you need.
4. If a member comes to you with an issue, and you are not sure how to deal with it, contact an administrator.
